Recently we were asked if we’d be interested to review a few products for a brand which, to be quite honest, we hadn’t heard of before – OXO Tot (no relation to the beef flavoured gravy cubes!).
The OXO Tot Range
The first thing hit us upon opening the box of goodies, was the very identifiable colours. When selecting products to review, we opted for the lovely leaf green colour, but they are available in Aqua and Raspberry too. The Leaf Green is very gender neutral, so user friendly when choosing different products within the range especially for any parents who aren’t yet sure if they’re expecting a boy or a girl.
OXO Tot Roll-Up Bib
The OXO Tot Roll-Up Bib is quite unique in its design, both material and rubber and is a very useful pelican bib and that be rolled up for easy storage. We found that when rolled up it easily fitted into one of the messenger bag compartments that we have on Little G-Mans Skip Hop Dash Changing Bag. It also stays rolled up as its clips to itself, another convenient feature, meaning no crumbs or yogurt smudges.
The Velcro fastener is long which means that as your child grows it can easily be adapted to their size, another great feature. The best part about this bib is that it is machine washable, something new as I haven’t come across many pelican bibs that are.
This feature alone would definitely spur me on to buy a few more for my ever evolving bib collection – especially as it is a very travel friendly product. It washes well as does the Velcro fastener.
OXO Tot Twist Top Water Bottle
Next out of the box of goodies was the OXO Tot Twist Top Water Bottle that is designed for 2 years and upwards. We decided to give it a go even though Little G isn’t yet one, but is a very independent chap who has already got the hang of straw cups. Well he didn’t disappoint, quickly grasping the cup and the concept the Twist Top Water Bottle is fast becoming his “go to beaker” when we are out and about.
The twist top means that he can play with it while it is closed but he can’t open it so no spillages there and he loves playing with beakers – it really helped to keep him occupied on a recent 2 hours journey we had.
The straw itself is not flimsy and after several attempts at biting it there are no marks or indents. The great design in this product is the measurements are in US AND UK OZ on the side – for some reason many designs for babies stop doing this as the child moves away from milk but G-man has bedtime milk which needs accurate measurement – easily done with this beaker.
The Twist Top Water Bottle is also handy to see just how much your child has had to drink during the day as we all know how consuming it is for parents who are constantly trying to get children to drink, especially in the hot weather. Another bonus is that it is all washable in the dishwasher with no warping or staining so far!
OXO Tot Flippy Snack Cup
The Flippy Snack cup with travel cover is great – useful for when the child is in the buggy or out and about.
Dry snacks fit well in here – there’s more space than you think. And it’s fairly easy to get the snacks in and out of the top but our 11 month old took a few goes before he was happy to put his whole hand in to grab a snack.
Little G-Man thought it was more fun posting the snacks back into the cup through the flaps but, as they say, food before one is just for fun!!
OXO Tot Fork and Spoon Set
The OXO Tot Fork & Spoon set are cute and surprised me as to how easy they were to use when helping G eat. He’s not at the stage where he can feed himself with them but he likes to have a go – and we all know what that means.
Endless flinging of bolognaise sauce all over the dining room – thankfully we have a dog who loves to clean up his mess. The handles on the cutlery are smooth but have special grips underneath to help your little one use them.
The fork & spoon set are also very cleverly designed to reduce food from falling off them – even the fork looks a little spoon like. Again – popped into the dishwasher they come up clean and no staining.
OXO Tot Divided Plate
Our final product to test was the OXO Tot Divided Plate which is simply brilliant. The plate grips to the bottom of the plate mean that it doesn’t slide around on a tray or table surface meaning a little less messy than normal.
The removable lip allows for your little one to scoop food onto their spoon or fork and help to push it on that little bit further to avoid it from falling off. The lip is removable for when they have mastered feeding themselves.
We really liked the portion sections of the plate as it helps to reassure you just how much or, if you’re like me, how little your little one needs to eat. It’s also taught me to start putting his food together on a plate to see for myself just how much I was making and how much I was expecting him to eat!
Out with the old! We’re converted
Like most parents, we have a huge drawer in the kitchen dedicated to numerous makes and models of bowls, plates, cups and containers. Quickly we’re finding that the OXO Tot range is constantly in use, so over the next few weeks, we’ll be placing an order to stock up.
